I love the CSJ because I believe that the best policies often come from the ground up – from the people making a real difference on the ground in their communities across the country – not from Westminster. Many of the things that shape life chances most – stability, guidance, belonging – don’t come principally from government, but from relationships in families and communities. Good policy strengthens those foundations rather than trying to replace them.
Before joining, I worked at Civitas, another think tank, with a focus on family and education policy. Before that, I read Economics at Cambridge, with a particular affection for economic history.
Something you might not know about me
I once ran the length of the Metropolitan line from Amersham to Aldgate with a group of friends to raise money for the charity the Naked Truth Project. Not especially quickly, I might add – we even stopped for a McDonald's by King’s Cross (I had chicken nuggets)!
