Mercy Mukori
Acting Head of Work and Opportunity
I first joined the CSJ in 2020 whilst studying an MSc in Comparative Social Policy at the University of Oxford. Having come from a disadvantaged background, myself, where welfare benefits were a lifeline for my family, I was inspired by the CSJ’s dedication to tackling poverty through good policy. Over the last few years, it has been a privilege to be part of the CSJ team in various capacities, including as a board member of the CSJ Foundation and as a member of the Social Justice Commission.
Prior to joining the CSJ again in 2024, I held a number of roles across the political and media space, including working as an advisor for the Minister for Women and Equalities, serving on the government’s Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, and as a broadcaster journalist. I continue to write a column in The Sun newspaper, and regularly provide political analysis on Sky News, ITV, and the BBC.
